Branch Training Organiser:
The Branch Training Organiser for Cyprus Branch is Geoff Steen. Geoff
served for almost 38 years in the Royal Air Force as an Electronics
Technician. Having served tours of duty in Cyprus in the 80’s and the 90’s,
he obtained a last tour of duty at RAF Akrotiri in June 2006 and retired
on Island in September 2009.
During his career he spent 4 years employed with the MOD in the management
of training, conducting training needs analysis as appropriate for his trade
which naturally identified what training was needed. He subsequently
arranged for that training need to be met. After a tour in Germany, he was once again involved with training,
but this time as an Instructor at the RAF Management and Leadership centre at RAF Hereford and later
at RAF Halton.
On his return from Cyprus in 2001, Geoff was employed as the overall training supervisor at the same
centre at RAF Halton for a further 4 years. Responsible for ensuring training standards never faltered and that the training was realistic,
pertinent and current.
Having joined SSAFA in the summer of 2010, he attended his Caseworkers course in November and with minor arm twisting, volunteered
to take on the role of Branch Training Organiser and subsequently attended the 2010 BTO Workshop in Birmingham.
He believes in a strong team ethos and that all members of the team have training appropriate to their needs.
The Assistant Training Organiser is Cacs Hinds
