CYPRUS

WE PROVIDE A STATUTORY CHILD CARE SERVICE FOR CHILDREN IN NEED OF PROTECTION, OR IN NEED OF SERVICES, TO ENSURE CHILDREN DEVELOP AND ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. THE MAIN FOCUS OF OUR WORK IS TO SUPPORT CHILDREN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND OTHER AGENCIES.

Social Workers also undertake step parent adoption work, fostering assessments, supervision of Foster Carers, and inspection of crèches. In addition, we offer a range of parenting advice and courses, working in partnership with other agencies such as Health. SSAFA Social Workers are registered either with the Health and Care Professions (HCPC) Council or Scottish Social Services (SSS) Council and abide by the Codes of Practice. We are guided by the same legislation which is in place in the UK to protect and safeguard children and young person’s wellbeing and development.

FOSTER CARE

On occasion Social Workers will be required to use Foster Carers on island. Social workers are responsible for undertaking assessments of prospective Foster Carers and the supervision of approved Foster Carers.

I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION..

I am worried about confidentiality and its impact on my or my partner’s career
Social Workers are bound by the SSAFA FH Confidentiality Undertaking and adhere to the Data Protection Act 1998 which ensures confidentiality is maintained. However in the event of Child Protection, information may need to be shared.

I am a child or young person who would like to speak to someone
You can contact us on the numbers above to talk about any worries you may have

I am interested in becoming a foster carer in Cyprus
Any initial interest can be discussed with the local Social Worker who will advise you on the process and assessment, and endeavour to answer your questions or identify someone who can.

HOW DO I MAKE A REFERRAL?

If you are worried about the safety or welbeing of a child or if you require advice and support, you can make a referral by contacting your local Social Worker as above and/or filling in a MARF (Multi Agency Referral Form) and sending it to your local social work team.

If you have concerns about a child’s immediate welfare and safety, please use the out of hours service:
